How to Edit a CC-Link’s Prefix and Serial Number

Important for VW workshops

Only edit CC-Link hardware information if:

• The wrong unit was entered during installation 
• The serial number or prefix was typed incorrectly 
• You have been instructed to do so by your local VW support or Connected Cars Support

Changing unit information will temporarily deactivate the CC-Link.

Step-by-step: Edit CC-Link unit information

1. Open the vehicle in ConnectedWorkshop 
2. Go to the Connectivity tab 
3. Open CC-Link settings 
4. Click Deactivate unit

This step is required before editing the unit information.

2. Open edit mode

Click the pencil icon to edit the CC-Link details: 

3. Enter the correct prefix and serial number

1. Enter the prefix and serial number exactly as shown on the hardware unit 
2. Example formats: SN-XXXXXXX OKXX-XXXXXXX 
3. Click Save : 

Make sure the information matches the physical device.

4. Optional: Fetch serial number automatically

If available, you can use the Fetch CC-Link serial number function.

1. Click Fetch CC-Link serial number 
2. Review the retrieved information 
3. Click Save: 

This helps reduce manual errors.
 

5. Reactivate the CC-Link

After updating the information:

1. Click Activate unit 
2. Confirm that the activation status changes accordingly

The vehicle will reconnect once activation is complete.

After reactivation

Once the CC-Link is reactivated:

• Vehicle data will resume automatically 
• Connection status will update in ConnectedWorkshop 
• Proactive service features will continue as normal

If data does not appear after reactivation, follow your local VW support process.

CC-Link may also be referred to as a hardware unit or telematics device Avoid editing unit information unless necessary Always double-check the serial number before saving.
