Understanding Connection Status (OEM Connectivity vs CC-Link)

In ConnectedWorkshop, a vehicle can send data through two different sources: OEM Connectivity (built-in from the factory) and the CC-Link device (installed by the workshop). Understanding these statuses is essential for ensuring the vehicle data you are reviewing is live and accurate.

Checking Status in the Vehicles Overview

You can see the connectivity health of your entire fleet directly from the Vehicles table. Look for these two specific columns:

  • OEM Connectivity Status: Displays the state of the vehicle’s factory-fitted connectivity.

  • CC-Link Status: Displays the state of the plug-in hardware.

Tip: A vehicle might be "Not installed" for CC-Link but still show "Communicating" via OEM. This means you can still see basic service data even if a physical device is not present.

CC-Link Status Badges examples: What do they mean?

The status badges use a "traffic light" system to tell you if the data is reliable:

BadgeStatusMeaning
GreenCommunicatingEverything is working. Data is being received regularly.
AmberAwaiting consentThe hardware is ready, but the customer has not yet accepted the privacy invitation.
RedNot communicatingThe unit is linked to the vehicle but has stopped sending data.
GreyNot installedNo CC-Link device has been registered to this vehicle.

Pro Tip: Hover your mouse over any badge to see exactly when the last piece of data was received.

Using the Connectivity Tab

If you need to troubleshoot a connection issue, open the vehicle record and select the Connectivity tab.

This page is split into two sections:

1. OEM Connection Section

This shows data from factory sources like VW Connect Pro.

  • Use this to: Confirm if the vehicle was ever activated at the factory and if the built-in signal is currently active.

2. CC-Link Section

This shows the technical health of the workshop-installed device:

  • Use this to: Find the Serial Number or Firmware Version. You will need these details if you need to contact Support regarding a faulty device.

Key Takeaways

  • Check the date: Always look at the "Data last received" timestamp. If it was several days ago, the mileage and leads shown may be outdated.

  • Dual Sources: A vehicle can have both OEM Connectivity and CC-Link active at the same time. ConnectedWorkshop automatically uses the best available data.

  • Action for "Awaiting user consent": If you see the "Awaiting user consent" badge, the workshop's job is done; you are now waiting for the customer to click the consent-link in their email.
