How to Transfer Vehicle Ownership in ConnectedWorkshop

This guide explains how to initiate a transfer of ownership when a vehicle arriving at your workshop is currently registered to another workshop or a previous owner.

 

Overview
 

When you open a vehicle profile that is actively linked to another workshop, a prominent blue information banner will appear at the top of the Vehicle Details page.
 

Tip :

If the current vehicle owner simply wants to switch their preferred workshop to yours, they should do this themselves directly inside their customer web-app. You should only use the Transfer Ownership flow if the vehicle has been sold to a completely new owner.


Step-by-Step 
 

Step 1: Initiate the Transfer

  1. On the vehicle details page, locate the blue warning banner.

  2. Click the Transfer ownership button:
     


Step 2: Verify Documents and Confirm the Transfer
 

A modal titled Transfer vehicle ownership will open. Before proceeding, review the vehicle details (VIN, License Plate, and Model) and note that this action will automatically remove the previous owner and notify them of the change.

  1. Use the Change to workshop dropdown menu to select your specific workshop location (e.g., Autohaus Hamburg)

  2. Review the customer's physical ownership papers:

  3. Check the box confirming: "I have verified the ownership documents for this vehicle." (If you are unsure which papers are acceptable, click the link below the checkbox to view approved document types):

     

  4. Click the blue Transfer ownership button to finalise the removal of the previous owner.


Step 3: Activate the New Owner
 

Once the old ownership is cleared, the Activate vehicle window will appear automatically so you can connect the new owner.

  1. Select whether the vehicle is a Private vehicle or a Fleet vehicle.

  2. Enter the new owner's Email address (Required).

  3. Fill in the First name, Last name, and Phone number (Optional).

  4. Click Invite user at the bottom right:
     

An activation invite will instantly be sent to the customer's email. If you provided a phone number, they will also receive an activation link via SMS to help them get connected right away.
